Two major social housing providers announce plans to build new affordable housing in Waterloo
'SE1 News' reports (in February 2018) that both the Peabody housing association and the City of London Housing Corporation have announced, separately, plans to build around 1,000 new, affordable-rent, homes on a site to the west of Newington Causeway,
Peabody has gone public on its latest plans for the 'Borough Triangle' site bounded by Newington Causeway, Borough Roadand the railway viaduct. Visitors to a recent public consultation exhibition were told that Peabody expects to comply with Southwark's 35 per cent affordable housing policy. If approved, this scheme could be completed by 2022 or 2023.
Separately, the City of London Corporation published a report on its website in early February setting out the possibility of up to 300 new homes on land in Newington Causeway owned by the City's Bridge House Estates charity.
