Local seniors needed share their memories for a play being written and performed by local children at the Unicorn Theatre
The Unicorn Theatre - the UK's theatre for young audiences - is looking for local elders to take part in an
intergenerational story-sharing project with children from South London. It will be running workshops at both the Blackfriars Settlement's Rushworth Street building and its own Tooley Street building every Tuesday morning for the six weeks from 27 February to 3 April at which the seniors will be encouraged to share their childhood stories, holiday memories and photos over a cup of tea. Material gathered, local children will create their own theatre show by what they have heard. It will be performed at the Unicorn Theatre. Workshop participants will be invited to attend, maybe even perform.
Everyone welcome. No prior acting experience necessary. Some workshops may - gently, the organisers promise - introduce movement and song.
Workshops will take place at Blackfriars Settlement's Rushworth Street building and the Unicorn Theatre on Tooley Street between 11am - 1pm on each of the six Tuesdays between 27 February and 3 April.
